Access request and invitation in Sharepoint 2010


Sharepoint 2010 http to https redirection iis 7.5

Hi

When i try to access my site using customsite.com it points to port 80 default site. when i put url ashttps://customsite.com it points to proper port and i could log in to the site.

When a user enter customsite.com url in the browser i want to redirect it to proper port and usehttps . Shown in bwlow screenshot. How can i do this. Kindly help.

I have a site created on port 1000 (AAM is configured for this site set to customsite.com), i extended web application to port 443. For the application 443 i have changed the Bindings in IIS as follows:

When creating an element on a list the ”created by” is captured automatic by Sharepoint and the username is clickable and leads to the users mysite.

But is there any way possible to automatic capture the users “department” property and show this on the list as well after the User have created the element?

Maybe with a column that has a formula or similar?   


How does SharePoint 2010 remember the last logged on user

Hi,

SP 2010 patched upto SP1 and beyond. Site Collections are hosted in regular NTLM authenticated web app. I occassionally use a test user to test the site. Once this is done, I "Sign in as  A Different User" and log in back as my regular windows account.

When I close this browser session and reopen,  the site opens with the test account. I fire up internet options and delete cookies and all histories, temporary internet files etc. Still the site by default opens with the test account. I restart my workstaion and open the site. Still opens with the test account.

Browser user authentication is set to Automatic Logon with Current User Name and Password.

Why? Also how SharePoint sites determine who to log on as?

PWA 2010 Bulk Edit Projects not functioning

Following changes to our Department structure, I want to make bulk updates to Project Departments via Bulk Edit Projects, however, this does not function.  I get the error message "The resource object with key 'BULK_EDIT_PROJECTS_PAGE_TITLE' was not found" along with a correlation ID.  I cannot find anything in the Security server settings that turns this functionality on/off.  How can I get this to function?

Bulk Edit in the Resource Center appears to function, although Group is not an option to edit.  Is there a way I can add this in to the Resource Bulk Edit page?

SharePoint 2010 People picker not validating user from other domain

Hello

I installed SharePoint 2010 on a single server in my development environment using local user accounts. Now I want to validate user from other domain, so I given following command

stsadm -o setapppassword -password "password"

stsadm -o setproperty -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests -pv domain.mydomain.com,mydomain\conavian,passsword@123 -urlhttp://sp2010:37686/sites/MyRecordCenter

All above commands runs successfully.

Then I reset the IIS.

Then I try to validate user (mydomain\conavian) in people picker, but it is not able to detect even not able to search.

Let me know If I am doing anything wrong.

Moving to new DB server and CLICONFG

I've been tasked with moving our SQL2008 databases to a SQL2012 server.

I've moved dbs to a new DB server before, but in MOSS 2007, and from SQL2005 to SQL2005.

We copied the databases over, and used cliconfg.exe to create an alias to the new server name. This was Microsoft's recommended method.

Same case now? Is this still the recommended method?

Sharepoint 2013 Upgradation

Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading TFS 2010 to 2012. As part of this, we have uninstall Sharepoint 2010 and installed 2013. but while configuring Sharepoint 2013, it was not reconized existing Server Farm. so, we created new server farm which created new DBs. So, we are unable to mapsharepoint  2010 DBs to 2013 DBs. Is there any solution to use sharepoint 2010 DBs to configure sharepopint 2013? Or please let me know the step by procedure to upgrade from shareppoint 2010 to sharepoint 2013.

Sharepoint 2010 Restore Backup Issue

Hi

I work at a GP surgery, and we use Sharepoint Foundation 2010 for our intranet. We've had various issues with Windows Update not connecting, but that was resolved recently and I starting applying updates. However, when I tried to do the manual upgrade, I got this error:

The farm is being upgraded in the timer service process. The task is 94.58% completed.

An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfig
urationTaskException was thrown.  Additional exception information: The upgrade
command is invalid or a failure has been encountered.
Failed to upgrade SharePoint Products.

Total number of unsuccessful configuration settings: 1
Successfully stopped the configuration of SharePoint Products.
Configuration of SharePoint Products failed.  Configuration must be performed be

The log showed this error:

An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfigurationTaskException was thrown.  Additional exception information: The upgrade command is invalid or a failure has been encountered.

The command I used was

PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures, ran from the 14\BIN directory.

At which point Sharepoint got a fresh install. However, when trying to restore the backup from before the attempted upgrade, this occured:

Your backup is from a different version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation and cannot be restored to a server running the current version. The backup file should be restored to a server with version '14.0.0.6120' or later.

I was informed that this build was the April 2012 CU, so there was another fresh install, updated up to the April 2012 CU, but the exact same message came up.

Is there any way that I can still restore this backup?

Manage Copies Update Error

I have used Send To command in Doc Library to copy a file to another Doc Library. But when I use Manage Copies command to update the copy (after a change to the Source document, I get copy error (Copy did not update successfully). This happens regardless of what source document I choose - any one that I choose to update copies for, I get same error. I am able to use the Send Copy command to make a copy of the document, but cannot update the copy after is is created. Any ideas.  I have check out required turned off in the target document library.

SharePoint - High availability of APP server

Hi there,

In my SP 2010 farm - I have two APP servers APP1 and APP2 (for high availability). Both of these run ALL SharePoint services.

I notice that the SharePoint Server Search and the User Profile Synchronization Service both are running only on APP1.
AND
If I try to start above two on APP2 as well then these services stop on APP1.
That means
These can start only one one server at a given moment?

If APP1 goes down - I will have to manually start these two services on APP2 <-- Is this the only way? Are there any better ways so this manual step can be avoided?

not able to access Site Custom pages

April 2013 CU - Security Validation issues

Our farm was upgraded to the April 2013 CU from August 2012 CU.

This caused an issue with publishing page layouts which had Managed Metadata fields embedded in them.

Disabling Security Validation fixed this, same as suggested here:

Now after disabling security validation, new list/library/site screens no longer work.

So I can't figure out a way to have both functionalities working a the same time.

Any ideas?


SP Upgrade - SiteOrphan Error

Hi,

I ran a test db attached on a QA SP2010 farm that I've setup.  After doing the upgrade, I see the entries of errors similar to the one shown below.  These looks like mysite entries.  Any idean what it means and how I can clean it up?  Thanks

Unable to start the User Profile Synchronization services and stuck on starting after some time its stopped

I am not able to start the  User Profile Synchronization services and stuck on starting after some time its stopped. I am unable to open the Synchronization service manager( Refer below  image)

I have tested below condition and everything in right place but still I am not able to start the services

  1. You must run the UPA Service Instance as theFarm Account.
  2. Farm Account must be alocal administrator of the machine running the UPA Service Instance during provisioning only.
  3. Farm Account must haveLog on Locally rights.
  4. The Synchronization Connection Account must haveReplicating Directory Changes.
  5. Delete all FIM related certificates fromcertificate store  following locationPersonal ,Trusted Root Certification Authorities ,Trusted People .
  6. Sharepoint webservices application pool  started in IIS.

 Error :

Unable to connect the Synchronization services

 Startà Runà Type below cmd (you will get belwo window)

                       Cmd:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Synchronization      

                             Service\UIShell\miisclient.exe ,

           

            Any suggestion would be help full.

Issue related to Sharepoint Application Server VS Web Server

Hi 

I have installed sharepoint in a 3 tier architech based server where i have falling in confusion between the usages of apps and web server.

Central admin is accessble in both the server (using both the url) but i am not sure where the central admin should be opened at.

As refered from different sourcess, central admin should be opened at web server url. If it is so then what is the role of apps server ?

Any help is really appreciated.


User profile Sync (SP2010) starts importing profiles, then switch to idle without completion

I am fairly new to SP. I'm trying to run a full profile sync. Everytime I try a full sync, the current sync stage shows "server export" after showing import of some 40 profiles. However, it switches idle without any user profile actually getting imported. This is the error message I get the error shown below.

I have CU Dec. 2012 installed. FIM services working fine.

I am just having a tough time figuring out what going on. I appreciate some help on how to resolve this issue.

can you set unique permisson on subset of term set in SharePoint 2010 term store

Is it possible to set unique permissions on subset of a term set in SharePoint 2010 term store?  the reason is that some departments want to used more terms in a global term set which should not be visible to all users
