Deleted Groups are visible in _layouts/groups.aspx

Hi,

I have a site collection which has around 30 groups created. These are visible when we navigate to sitecol/_layouts/user.aspx. I then deleted 15 groups using powershell (sitegroups.remove()). These disappeared from sitecol/_layouts/user.aspx, but surprisingly these were still present when i navigated to sitecol/_layouts/groups.aspx !

How do we ensure that the groups are deleted completely from the site collection?

SharePoint2010 InfoPath on PageLoad getting 401 Unauthorized error after restoring with Produciton DB on DEV environment

The SharePoint system is In-place upgraded on Prod environment from 2007-->2010 from there we are trying to take backup and restore on Other environments(DEV/TEST) with the same setup. Only the In path in SharePoint is giving below error when try to create a new list, actually On Page Load there are couple of User information is been retrieved where we were receiving a warning alert "An error occurred querying a data source" and with the error details:

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401)
Unauthorized.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at
Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.SolutionLifetime.DataAdapterSharepointListQuery.SendSoapRequestAndReturnResultSync(DataAdapter
adapter, WebRequest request)

Interestingly,InfoPath Preview is working as expected without any issues only it is failing when we open in SharePoint(All Published InfoPath). Web services are accessible and retrieving data when we access in Browser or outside of InfoPath. We have tried adding DisableLoopbackCheck in registry but no luck. Any help on this would be great!

Document becomes locked as Read only by System Account

$

I have a document library in SP2010 where a document has been checked out by "System Account" and locked as Read Only.

Logged in with site collection administrator credentials (which also have full control in the web app via policy) I am not able to edit, check in, discard checkout, administratively force check in, or delete the document. I am able to open it in read only mode in both the client and Office Web Apps. This library does have a standard, OOB approval workflow attached. The WF is not customized. I see that the Workflow Timer Job becomes set to "Paused" when this runs.

I have tried cancelling the the workflow tasks and terminating the workflow. But, it does not release the check out by System Account or the read only status.

I logged in as the Farm Admin account, which is recognized as System Account, and tried all these things, but still no results.

I have cycled the SharePoint Timer service, but this didn't alleviate either the check out status or the read only lock.

I have restarted the WFE server and the SQL server. But, the check out and lock remain.

I do not have the option of deleting this document library as there is too much content to manage. This is only a single document in the library, not all the documents in the library.

So, how do I access this lock and remove it?

Change document name with workflow or make Title clickable

I have a document library with invoices and an approval workflow attached.

When a user uploads an invoice, the approval workflow starts. As a column you have automatically 'Name' which holds the name of the uploaded invoice and 'Title' which gets populated by the workflow. In my workflow I have 'Set Title to [%supplier%]-[%Current Item:ID%]'.

So the title is an auto-increment name that means something. I would like to ONLY use this name/title in the document library! Unfortunately, column Title is not a hyperlink, so I can not open the document with only the Title field. The column 'name' is a hyperlink which contains the document, but has the name of the file, which I don't want to use!

So, can I :

1) Make the 'title' field a hyperlink to the document like the 'name' field?
2) Can I change the 'name' field using my approval workflow?

Search Server Error - Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion

Hello,

I have a 5 server farm (DC, 2 WFEs, 1 SQL,1 CA w/ search) and am experiencing an issue when returning search results.  This issue just started occurring recently, and basically the search page throws a correlation id whenever used.  The error returned is:

SearchServiceApplication::Execute--Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800703FA): Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703FA)
SearchServiceApplicationProxy::Execute--Error occured: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703FA) (Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703FA)

I even attempted to create an out of the box enterprise search site with OOB masterpages and I still am receiving this error.

I have also tried the  ‘Do not forcefully unload the registry at user logoff’ registry edit, but it did not work.

Has anyone ran into this issue and has another solution other than the ‘Do not forcefully unload the registry at user logoff’ registry edit?

Thanks!

Question regarding Sharepoint 2010 patching

Hi,

I have SharePoint production and staging environment where production has build version of 14.0.7015.1000 & staging has 14.0.7125.5000. I had observed there are two additional hot fixes applied on staging(February 2014 CU, June 2014 CU for SharePoint 2010) which were not present in production environment.

How do I make production build version same as staging. Does installing above CU will make both the farms at same build version? .

Do I need to install just June 2014 CU on production or I need to install first February CU and then June 2014 CU?

I have 3 WFE, Should I install the CU at different time on each WFE? What would be down time?

Do I need to do any backup, what is way to restore if something doesn't work after installation of CU?

Thanks

PerformancePoint Services - Dashboard Designer won't launch from PerformancePoint Content library

$

There are a couple of ways to launch Dashboard Designer for PerformancePoint Services. One of them is to go to a BI Center site, than to the PerformancePoint Content library and click New Item on the Items tab of the ribbon. If you then select one of the items listed, eg a PerformancePoint KPI, Dashboard Designer should launch.

Now in my case, it doesn't. I get a popup titled 'Dashboard Designer Redirect' telling me 'Loading Dashboard Designer...', but when the popup disappears after a few seconds, nothing happens. In the SharePoint logs, I can find a few errors, listed below. What intrigues me here is that the problem seems to be caused by a resource file ppsma.Client.en-US.en-US.resx that cannot be found. Note the doubleen-US.enUS in there. I do see the resource file in the listed location, but it has en-US in it's filename only once.

This is not a serious problem as I do have other options to launch Dashboard Designer, like going to the Data Connections library, then select New Document - PerformancePoint Data Source, which will launch DD. Or go to the BI Center main page and select the 'Start using PerformancePoint Services' link and start DD from there, which also works. But I am just curious whether there is something wrong with my installation, or this is a bug I should report on MS Connect.

The errors in the log:

PerformancePoint and Dashboard Designer problems

$

0

Hi,

I'm trying to implement PerformancePoint in our farm, I've created an SSA, then created a PerformancePoint Service Application, given it the unattended service account, that then appears in the SSA. Created a BI Center, opened Dashboard Designer, then, when I try to create a Data source, I enter the sql server name, I select the database name from the drop down, I select the table from the next drop down, I click Test connection and it says connection successful, but I then click the preview tab, and after a bit of thinking I get the message "Error in Connecting to Data Source. Please verify the connection details". I've made sure the unattended service account has read permissions on the database, which seems to be borne out by the fact I can see the tables.

The same thing happens if I try to use a spreadsheet or anything.

I thought I'd covered off everything, but perhaps there's a step I missed somewhere, so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Perhaps there's something in SQL that is missing, a feature that wasn't installed by a server team perhaps?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I've tried to run the configurazion wizard, both using UI and using command line. All is ok, but the message still perisits.

At the and of this post, you can also see the result of localupgradestatus stsadm command.

How can I force this value to No Action Required?

Thanks,

Content Organizer Settings: E-mail to rule managers won't turn off

Hello. I have a site with Content Organizer activated. In the Content Organizer Settings, we have several people identified as rule managers. There are 2 checkboxes that supposedly control how e-mail is sent to rule managers. One is "E-mail rule managers when submissions do not match a rule." The other is "e-mail rule managers when content has been left in the Drop Off Library". Both of these check boxes are turned OFF (i.e., UNchecked). The Number of days to wait before sending an e-mail is set to 30 days.

In spite of these both being turned off, we are seeing an email every 60 seconds (which is the frequency that the content manager runs in scheduled jobs) go out to the rule managers if there is a document in the drop off library that has missing required metadata. The subject of the e-mail is always "<library name> - Documents Were Submitted That Did Not Match Any Rules."

I need to actually turn these messages OFF so that my rule managers do not get inundated with them. Can someone please tell me why unchecking the box in the configuration screen is not working?

Thanks

Doug

User Profile Service - Event ID 5555

Hi,

Any help with the following would really be appreciated:

I am receiving a critical error in the Windows Event Logs on a daily basis at 01:00:00 AM:

Event ID: 5555

Task Category: User Profiles

Failure trying to synch web application <GUID>, ContentDB <GUID>  Exception message was System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

Looking at the timer job schedule this seems to relate to the running of the User Profile Incremental Synchronisation timer job.

Currently we do not have any synchronisation connections configured e.g. AD etc

My questions are as follows:

1, Am I correct in thinking that not having any connections setup is causing this error to be logged?

2, Will disabling this timer job stop the error from being logged and is there any issue with doing this (e.g. against best practice)?

Thanks

Mixed SQL Server versions in a farm

Hi,

We have a SharePoint 2010 farm with a PowerPivot/SSRS application server. The SharePoint database server, and the PowerPivot/SSRS servers are currently both on SQL 2008 R2 SP1. We would like to understand if we can upgrade only the PowerPivot/SSRS server to SQL 2012 (leaving the SharePoint database server as is) to get the benefits of the new features in PowerPivot and in order to use Power View. The main reason for asking this question is because of the change in the SSRS architecture, in that it is a Service application with SQL 2012, so would it allow to save the Reporting Services databases on a SQL 2008 R2 instance?

Following is the farm topology:

2 WFEs, Load balanced (Central Administration, Web, Query, Index, Index Mirror)

App server 1 (Service Application, Crawl)

App server 2 (PowerPivot for SharePoint
, SSRS) - SQL 2008 R2 SP1

SQL Server for SharePoint databases - SQL 2008 R2 SP1

In case it is fine to upgrade only the PowerPivot/SSRS box, then is there anything that we need to be aware of in terms of potential issues (apart from the pre-requisites like upgrading SharePoint to the latest SP and CU)?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Manu

SSRS integration mode - SharePoint

   Hi,

We have problems with low performance when report is rendering on the SharePoint page. I have verified how it works  using f.ex. fiddler tool. I enabled caching mechanism on sharepoint side and how data are retrieving from cache store.

It looks that most time is report rendering by browser. So part of the time is taken by consuming request by browser and send reponse to the report service back? Is it possible to speed it up?

   Best regards,

   Kamil
