Sharepoint foundation search refresh job not starting

$

Hi all,

I have a question which i cannot figure out by myself.

I took over an old Sharepoint and got it working again, changed bindings, etc.

Searching now works but the Sharepoint foundation search refresh just won't start.

It was set at default 5 min. and i found that the Search service V4 was disabled. i enabled it en retried.

but no luck. i tried several other smaller fixes but it looks like everything is in the right place.

if i check the job timer status the search refresh can't even be seen.

anyone got an idea?

Site collections still need an upgrade on one server in SharePoint 2010 farm

Hello,

I have a small SP2010 farm with 2 WFEs and 1 App server. CA is installed on one of the WFEs. There is "Upgrade Required" message showing up on only the App server.

When I run stsadm -o localupgradestatus on WFE, it says everything is upgraded.

But when I run the same command on App server, it says that there are "5 site collections that need upgrade."

Please help me out in understanding the issue and how do I proceed in resolving this.

Thanks,

Target Audience in Webpart not working properly

I have added an AD group as target audience for CEWP in a page. For some users of that group able to view the webpart and some are unable to view. As i checked both users have same permission for the site given.

But why the issue, where as same permission level is there? Need some hints. Even after adding those users(who are unable to view) in a sharepoint group and given that group in Target Audience; same issue.

Disable ability to add new pages to Wiki

This is going to sound strange but we have a problem where our wiki pages are getting out of control.  We would like to set up a page structure and only allow the "owner/administrator" of the wiki site to add pages but let all the user add content under the appropriate pages.  Unfortunately it doesn't look like the contributor permissions work on the wiki pages like they do on normal sites.  On a normal site if I have someone set to be a contributer they can edit pages but can't add them.  On the wiki site they can still add pages.

I'm hoping there is an easy way to disable the ability for certain users to add new wiki pages.

Thank you

We are having an issue with a patch that was released on October 13 for Excel (KB3055034).  Ever since this patch was applied to our desktops, Excel crashes when attempting to open spreadsheets on SharePoint.  Excel also crashes when attempting to select a list and then choose Export to Excel.  The error generated in the Application log is as follows:

Faulting application name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 14.0.7160.5000, time stamp: 0x55fc2723

Faulting module name: mso.dll, version: 14.0.7159.5000, time stamp: 0x55ea7be6

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0000000000188864

Faulting process id: 0x1f60

Faulting application start time: 0x01d10b675fe2ad7a

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\office14\mso.dll

Does anyone know if Microsoft is working on resolving this issue. Also, does anyone have a workaround other than removing the patch?

Thanks,

In a List - how to restrict edit permissions by the "Assigned To" field? (Manage Item Permissions not suitable owing to large number of entries)

$

Hi there,

We have 10s of thousands of items in an Excel spread-sheet which we would like to bring to SharePoint list.

Business needs so only user who can edit an item - must be the one who is named in Assigned To field.

I know it is possible by Manage Item Permissions for each and every item - but we have 10s of thousands of items and SharePoint experts tell me that this can impact performance negatively if we set Manage Item Permissions individually for each of the items.

Any other ideas? Thoughts?

The SharePoint system is In-place upgraded on Prod environment from 2007-->2010 from there we are trying to take backup and restore on Other environments(DEV/TEST) with the same setup. Only the In path in SharePoint is giving below error when try to create a new list, actually On Page Load there are couple of User information is been retrieved where we were receiving a warning alert "An error occurred querying a data source" and with the error details:

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401)
Unauthorized.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at
Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.SolutionLifetime.DataAdapterSharepointListQuery.SendSoapRequestAndReturnResultSync(DataAdapter
adapter, WebRequest request)

Interestingly,InfoPath Preview is working as expected without any issues only it is failing when we open in SharePoint(All Published InfoPath). Web services are accessible and retrieving data when we access in Browser or outside of InfoPath. We have tried adding DisableLoopbackCheck in registry but no luck. Any help on this would be great!

An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The security token username and password could not be validated..

Hi,

I get a problem authenticating people in Sharepoint 2010 LDAP provider.

Right now, I can successfully config the central admin for LDAP provider, (I can search people that in LDAP server, assign ldap people without problem). Also I can search LDAP people in my site. Then I tried to login using ldap username and password, it shows "An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The security token username and password could not be validated.."

First, I thought maybe there were some typo in my site web.config, so I enabled the windows login, log into my site using my windows account, there, I can search LDAP user in my site with no problem. So I believe that my site web.config is alright. The only thing left is the STS.But I am not sure what could be wrong , because membership and role part are just simple copied and pasted from my site web.config.

Here is the web.config for STS. Please Help. Thank you.

Designer workflows not working after migration from Sharepoint Foundation 2010 to 2013

$

Hi,

We have a problem after migrating a site collection
from SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1 to a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1
farm, following Microsoft guidelines

Here are the details:

Site collection main site has a Sharepoint Designer
workflow associated to a list. There are 30 subsites from same template with
libraries and lists with also Designer workflow.

Root site workflow is identical to subsite workflows:
same configuration, same steps and actions and same security. Root site and
subsites same configuration and same features enabled

And, if I try to open with Sharepoint Designer
workflow in the root site, it opens, I can edit it, I can publish it, and
workflow runs without any problems, doing its jobs.

But I try to open any of the subsites workflows
with Sharepoint Designer, it does not open throwing the following message:

ERROR WORKFLOW LOADING CONFIGURATION FILE

And then:

SHAREPOINT
DESIGNER CANNOT SHOW THE ELEMENT

PROBABLE
CAUSES:

- FIELE WAS REMOVED FROM SITE ((BUT FILES EXIST IN THE PROPER FOLDER)

- WEB SITE IS FINDING PROBLEMS  (-AND SHAREPOINT LOGS ARE NOT TELLING
ANYTHING)

We've tried everything we found, even deleting
Sharepoint Desginer local caches, but with no effect.

Obviusly, in the Sharepoint Foundation 2010 site
collections all workflows are operative, in the root site and in all subsites.

Any help will be welcome.

The server farm account should not be used for other services.

Hi Guys,

I have got the above error on the sharepoint and it is running like a snail. It has got a explanation and remedy to fix the error

Category

Security

Explanation

RECTELLA\sp_sql, the account used for the SharePoint timer service and the central administration site, is highly privileged and should not be used for any other services on any machines in the server farm. The following services were found to use this account: SharePoint - 80 (Application Pool)
SPSearch4(Windows Service)

Remedy

Browse to http://sharepoint02:3792/_admin/FarmCredentialManagement.aspx and change the account used for the services listed in the explanation. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142685".

I am not sure where to start as I have never dealt with errors on the sharepoint. Could someone please direct me how to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Sharepoint 2010 - Windows 7 - Office 2010 - IE 11 - Open in Excel fails

$

The issue I have happens to all doc, docx, xls, and xlsx files but I want to focus on one example. I have an xlsx file uploaded to SharePoint 2010. In Windows 7 pro x64 I use IE 11 to open the site and click on the xlsx file.  The file opens in the browser. I click on "open in Excel," Excel tries to open locally and I get asked for my credentials. After that I get "Microsoft Excel has stopped working" as shown in the following two messages, one and then the other in quick succession:

Microsoft Excel has stopped working - Windows is checking for a solution...

Microsoft Excel has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop...

Excel closes after I click on "close program." I have MS Office 2010 installed locally and if I download the xlsx file I can open it without any problem. Please note that this site is accessed by different users from within and outside of our organization and from different subnets within our organization. I have found a couple of computers which do not get this error. They all have IE 10 but I'm not sure if that matters. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Change Inbound Email @server_name.domain.local

When a list in SP 2010 has inbound email setup, for example, it would be: MyList@sp2010.domain.local (sp2010 is the name of my SP server, domain.local is my domain).

How do I change the @sp2010.domain.local to something else, like:  @sharepoint.domain.local?

I've tried tinkering w/the inbound email settings in Central Admin, but that didn't work.  I thought of Alternative Access Mappings, but wanted to ask the question here before I start tinkering around.

Thank you in advance.

Hi All,

In my document library i see same document id for two documents.

As of i know, Document Id is unique for each document. I have a issue with this.

For Ex: I have two documents named with Sales File, Accounts File with same document id: Doc-10-100

When i click on 'Sales File' --> Sales File.docx file is opening.

When i click on 'Sales File'  Doc id: 'Doc-10-100' -->opening 'Account File.docx'. Actually it should open 'Sales File'

Please help me to solve this issue, or how can i change the document id for 'Account File' ?

Thanks & Regards
