SharePoint 2010 installation
Good morning,
We are installing a brand new SharePoint 2010 environment and I had a couple of questions :
1 - When installing the software, do I need to patch to SP1 before going to SP2 or can I go straight to SP2 ( and does that include the Cumulative June update or should that also be deployed) ?
2 - Same for Language pack -> In order to upgrade to SP2 in my other environments I had to uninstall SP1 and then install SP2, therefore I figure that I could go straight to SP2 Language pack.
3 - What is the difference with the language pack
a) ServerLanguagePack_SP2_fr-fr.exe 2010 -> Server Language Packs for SharePoint Server 2010, Project Server 2010, Search Server 2010, and Office Web Apps 2010
b) oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe -> Service Pack 2 for Microsoft 2010 Server Language Pack (KB2687462)

People Picker throwing error in Claim based using Windows authenitcaion
I am facing problem with the SharePoint 2010 People picker on Claim based site using only Windows Authenication
Site 1: Claim based using Windows Authentication
Site 2: Claim based used Mixed authentication(both Windows and FBA)
People picker on the Site 2 is working fine. While the People picker for the Site 1 is throwing error.
When i try to resolve user in the Site 1 People picker it throws error "No exact match was found. Click the item(s) that did not resolve for more options.".
Now when I select the People picker address book I find the Site 2 FBA authentication provider.
ULS log also throws the error complaining the Site 2 FBA membership provider. Error log below:
An exception occurred in XxxClaimsProvider claim provider when calling SPClaimProvider.FillResolve(): Object reference not set to an instance of an object..
I even created new site collection to check. I face the same problem, even on the new site people picker is not working. I think somehow SharePoint is adding the FBA membership role provider into all the SharePoint site in the farm
I have verified that Windows Authentication is only activated by going through Central Admin> Authentication provider for the Site 1
I face the same problem with the People picker in Central Admin which is Windows authentication and the same error log is generated
How can i remove the reference of the FBA Claim provider from the site? Why SharePoint is using the FBA authentication provider when the FBA AUthentication provider is not present

Getting Error The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed in SharePoint 2010
Hi,
SharePoint 2010 Backup has been taken from production and restored through Semantic Tool in one of the server.The wepapplication of which the backup was taken is working fine.
But the problem is that the SharePoint is not working correctly.We cannot create any new webapplication ,cannot navigate to the ServiceApplications.aspx page it shows error.Even the Search and UserProfile Services of the existing Web Application is not working.Checking the SharePoint Logs I found out the below exception

On search result page OWA doesn' work
Hi All,
On our environment we have OWA setup. On search result page we face couple of issue
1. We search with doc and on search result page when we hover to it, the hover panel appear but does not display the document preview. Howvever when we go to doc lib and then hover panel display the doc preview
2. As soon as we hover on the link on search result page it start downloading without clicking on it.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

SharePoint 2010 - Web Analytics - Failed Queries Report
Hi,
I hope someone has an answer for this. For some time, I've had SharePoint 2010 Enterprise edition installed and configured on a 3-tier (3 app, 3 wfe, 3 sql) setup. While the Web Analytics reports have been running since day 1, the "Failed Queries" report has never captured click-throughs. This has been bugging me for a very long time... the "Failed Queries" report only ever shows either "100%" or "No results returned" in the "Percent Abandoned" column.
Has anyone ever had this issue?

Visio files take a long time to open
Hey all, I'm very new to sharepoint. I've got a weird issue when opening visio drawings that are in a sharepoint library. They seem to take a while to open and while the file is opening it looks like it's downloading the stencils and is constantly"contacting" the server the file isn't even 1 MB in size. Google searches have failed to turn anything up. Where would I start

Multiple domain access
I have sharePoint installed on Domain A. I have trusted connection with domain B at AD level. I am able to see users from domain B but they are not able to login. SharePoint version is 2007, 2010 and 2013.

SharePoint 2010 Content DB upgrade failed SqlError: 'The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_Dependencies1_Objects". The conflict occurred in database "SharePoint2010_Config", table "dbo.Dependencies", column 'ObjectId'
We are upgrading from Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2010.
While Four Project Server databases upgraded successfully, the SharePoint Content database upgrade is failing with the following errors in eventvwr and ULS logs:
1. Unknown SQL Exception 8144 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.Procedure or function proc_GetDatabaseInformation has too many arguments specified.
2. There is a compatibility range mismatch between the Web server and database "PWA_Content_80", and connections to the data have been blocked to due to this incompatibility. This can happen when a content database has not been upgraded to be within the compatibility range of the Web server, or if the database has been upgraded to a higher level than the web server. The Web server and the database must be upgraded to the same version and build level to return to compatibility range.3. Unknown SQL Exception 547 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_Dependencies1_Objects". The conflict occurred in database "SharePoint2010_Config", table "dbo.Dependencies", column 'ObjectId'. The statement has been terminated.
3. I also got the following error which I fixed successfully to allow another run using the DROP INDEX IDX_16893_16892_AllUserData ON dbo.AllUserData
The index 'IDX_16893_16892_AllUserData' is dependent on column 'tp_DirName'.
ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN tp_DirName failed because one or more objects access this column.
4. Powershell command Mount-SPContentDatabase returns the following error: Specified cast is not valid
5. In the Upgrade.log file I see the following:

SharePoint permissions
we have SharePoint 2010 where all authenticated users have view permission on the main site collection. then we give each list its on permission. we have a visitor and i dont want him to see anything in our SharePoint except 1 subsite. how can i solve this without removing the all authenticated users. also my SharePoint doesnt recognize local accounts or any AD Group

Sharepoint 2010 SP1 and June CU 2011 installation steps on a farm
I can't find anything much details steps to apply Sharepoint 2010 SP1 Server/Foundation and CU June 2011 on production environment with an app server, and two WFEs. I would appreciate any suggestions if there's any missing steps below.
1.Run Service Pack 1 FOUNDATION on APPS, DO NOT Config Wizard, this must be run after all SP1 Foundation and SP1 are installed

SharePoint timer service getting terminated after I joined a new server to an existing farm.
Hello guys, hope you are doing well.
I recently added a new server to my existing server farm set up containing 2 servers. In all, I now have three servers in my farm.
I am observing an System event error related with SharePoint timer service getting unexpectedly terminated. Event ID - 7031.
I have read a lot of blogs around this issue and I believe that the probable solution could be to try clearing SharePoint Configuration Cache and see if that resolves the issue.
I am going to try to soon but in the meanwhile I would like to know if anyone has any other suggestions to resolve this or if there is anything else that I can consider checking? ULS logs did not help much in my case.
On a side note, I have also observed that if I stop the user profile service on the newly added server, the event error stops getting logged in the new server but at the same time the event error can be seen on the other server where the User profile synchronization service is running.
Any help is welcome!!
