We're currently experiencing partial Web Analytic report failure or not showing. The service application has been recreated:
1. Web Analytic service running
2. Web Analytic Data processing service also running.
3. Usage Data collection enabled
4. Health Data collection enabled
A. Inventory returns value & working good.
B. Traffic & Search returns no result
Can someone shed a light on the problem I have? Any help is appreciated!

I've a Moss 2007 site having only lists and, of course, users. No document libraries. So is it possible to migrate successfully to SharePoint 2010 following a "native" method or however is it better to adopt a third-party solution (fe Metalogix)?

Hi, in order to plan a migration to SharePoint 2010 from Moss 2007, I need to know the relationship between the maximum number of items of a list and the corresponding list view threshold (5.000). How does this threshold affect the max number of list items? Is it better to maintain the number of items near 5.000 to safeguard the query performancies?

Hi, We have document library with Thousands of documents. When I upload new document to same library I do not see document ID. I do not see any column by name Document ID. Also Is there a way to apply document ID to exisiting documents without taking any action. We don't want to change document properties. The feature is enabled and both timer jobs have been run successfully. I have also reset IIS.

Hi Experts,
I am using SharePoint 2010. I would like to set up a permission level which can create/edit/delete users/groups and grant predefined permission level to users/groups, but which CANNOT read the library/list content of the sites. Such a permission level is used to do user management only (operators) without access rights to confidential content of the sites.
Can I do that?

We just migrated our site from sp2007 to sp2010.
Every thing worked fine, and website which runs on anonymous access working fine. and for few pages it requires FBA to access. I am able to get my custom login page on clicking signin. But once i give the username and password and click on login button, it is going to 403 forbidden.
Please help me to fix this.

we have Sharepoint 2010 with April 2013 CU installed. Issue is that we have few site collections on which current storage used is more than it's allocated space. I'm not sure how It can be possible. I'm lookin at in Central admin. Also I tried running the below powerShell to confirm the space used by the site collection and It matches with the no shows in current storage used in Central admin. Can any one tell how It can be possible?
Here is the powershell I used to confirm the storage used by a site collection.
$URL = "http://sp2010" $Site = Get-SPSite -identity $URL $Site.RecalculateStorageUsed() $site.Usage.Storage / 1mb
Here is the example of a site collection on which I can see that storage used is more than It's allocated space. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Does anyone know of any way to edit "Hire Date" through SQL or be able to import this from something besides AD?
Since it is a Date field, there aren't any AD attributes that I can successfully sync with. There is whenCreated but that doesn't match for everyone since some of the older employees were migrated from a different system. Plus it will cause some confusion since it shows when the acct was created and not their actual start date.
I can go through and manually update these through Central Admin but that will take me forever. It would be a lot easier if I could pull these up in some sort of datasheet view and manually input the values or if I could import them from an Excel sheet or something.

I faced a weird problem with SharePoint permissions in our production environment. We have several folders inside the Shared Documents library. The structure looks like this:
Shared Documents -> Folder-A -> Folder-B
We granted Read permission for Folder-B to a specific user (let's call him John Smith). Thus John has Read permission for Folder-B andLimited Access permission for Site, Shared Documents library and Folder-A. The problem is: when he tries to access Folder-B or any document in it he gets Access denied error. I have to give him higher site-level permission so that he could access Folder-B. But this approach allows him to see most of the data on the site which is not desirable. Are there any known bugs with unique permissions for folders in SharePoint 2010?
I'd appreciate any ideas why it may happen or how it can be fixed.

I am trying to create network paths for users to save straight into SharePoint from Word etc.
Most of them have been set up without any trouble but some have come up with the error "Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server. You do not have to correct permissions. Please contact the server administrator" I have double checked that the user has permissions for the folder that i am trying to create a path for and they have Designer permissions therefore i am lost in thinking what is the problem?

For some reason, in a Sharepoint site I inherited, every document library has the same upload dialogue box. Normally, the upload box shows only the fields you have in the library; that is, if you have a doc library with columsn for name, title, and date, then that's what you see when you upload to it...and every library has an upload box that matches THAT library.
Well, in this site, there's one upload box for all libraries, and it has a ton of fields in it. I figured out how to hide the ones I don't want in my most importat library, but really would like to get the thing back to operating the way it's supposed to. Any ideas about what's causing this? I suspect it has something to do with content typing, but am not 100% sure.
Hi we have been using sharepoint 2010 for the past couple of years. We have a number of site collections where we do the following:
we have a template site (team site) which we preconfigure
we save this site as a template
then during the course of the business process...
we create sub sites from this template/solution for each new project that we have
after we create a site from a template we set column default values on the library that is in this team site
this has been working fine in 2007 and in 2010 (well we never worried about metadata in 2007 but we are now in 2010)...
we have just found a big problem. Whenever we update the template site (by making some configuration changes to it, deactivating the existing solution/wsp and deleting it and saving our revised site as the same template), the column default values settings in all of the sites that were created from the original wsp/template site stop working with regards to column default values settings.
So If I go into and old site that was created before i replaced the site template/wsp/solution, and create a document, the default values do not flow through to the document even though you can see in column value default settings for this library are still set... I have started a support case for this and so far the support engineer has not been able to duplicate this behavious. So I thought I would throw it out to the forums to see if anyone else has had this problem. This problem has me seriously reconsidering our architecture and thining about using document sets instead, although that is a lot of work to switch over to a different architecture...
The support engineer has told me that this is not "best practice" delteing site templates/solutions while there are still child sites that have been created from this wsp in the site collection. We never considered this and it is bad for us as we have a lot of production sites like this... It would be nice if we never had to update our wsp/templates but unfortunately in the real word templates need updating... And there is no way to do this unless we deactivte, delete and re-save as template...

I have created roles & membership providers in sql 2012 . I have changed the web.config files of web application,sts,central administration but its not working.

Trying to set up FBA authentication.
I just ran %System Drive%\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regsql.exe and it created an FBA database for me (owned by my spadmin user).
Interestingly, it is not possible to add app pool identities to have permissions to this database in sql server manager as they are not available to add to this database, only "guest" is (along with a dozen or so database roles like [aspnet_Membership_BasicAccess] (which interestingly are NOT available to the databases created by SharePoint...).
In contrast, if I go to the SharePoint config database, bring up permissions and browse for users, I see all the app pool ID database users listed.
I've compared the configurations of my SP databases to this FBA database and can't determine why I'm being prevented (as sql server sysadmin) from assigning SP app pool (security logins) to this new FBA database.
