How to access sharepoint site documents in windows explorer

Hi all, I've recently been asked to maintain a few SharePoint sites. I am very new to SharePoint but I am excited to find this great community.

I'm sure this has been answered before but the SharePoint lingo is a bit beyond me at this point. I need to copy all of the documents that have been uploaded to the SharePoint site. There are about 1500 PDFs. This particular site will be going offline and I need to move these documents to their new host, which is not a SharePoint site.

I am using a SharePoint 2010 site. I understand the files are stored as binary objects in the SharePoint database. Is there a way to access them in File Explorer? Do I need to access them in SQL Management Studio? Is there another tool I should use, like SyncToy?

*I've tried accessing \\website.com from file explorer and it shows me ""EnterpriseSearchShare and "SharePointSearchServerShare" folders but i cannot access them. -It says I don't have permissions but I am remoted into the machine (website.com) as an admin.

Thanks for any help!
