Two way trust - Import of users process in SP2010 - Authentication issue
Hi,
We recently setup a 2 way trust between 2 of our domains. We needed this change to be reflected in SharePoint, so I have modified UPS to cater this. The newly added UPS connection has been able to find/locate and add the new users into our new domain using
the Profile Synchronisation service. I then ran a crawl and made sure the people scope was the same as the UPS user count. (Which it was)
What I am struggling with now is the authentication of the newly added users. I am trying to hit the SharePoint web app (intranet site) but it doesn't seem to be authenticating the account. I receive the username and password box on repeat. Also noticed
that users were not populated in the Site Collection user list but I believe from memory these users are only added once they hit the web app successfully?
I have also added the intranet site to trusted sites and still nothing.
So, is there a step or something I have missed out on here??? Or could it be a security group setting or something similar when the 2 way trust was conducted? I didn't setup the 2 way trust as I'm just the SharePoint monkey but if there is something security group related between the two domains that could be the cause of this issue it would be good to know so i can pass it on.

Hi all,
have a problem with SharePoint 2010 installation.
We have the farm which contains one WFE and one DB server.
WFE has many customization (one of them is click on My Details in user drop-down menu redirects user to custom page, which holds a lot of custom fields from SiteUserInfoList so the user can view not only their email, job title, department but hobby, age or hire date and so on).
SiteUserInfoList (/_catalogs/users/simple.aspx) has a special fields (custom added) to store details about each user (like hire date or hobby or age).
Authentication model for web application is set to Windows (NTLM) so each domain user can access portal until he is not specially blocked by SharePoint (broken inheritance\special permissions etc).
Today a unknown change of user profiles occur - all custom fields was cleared from data contained in and only fields containing data from user profiles in AD (email, phone, first\last name) left.
The question is - what application or service can initiate this changes and why?
Also why this things can happens every day?
! User Profile Services application is not installed or launched so this changes can not be bound with integrated FIM client.
Also no timer jobs are running which can cause user profiles change.

The user does not exist or is not unique
hi -
i have a Project Tasks list with an Assigned To column. I use the people picker to select the user that I want to assign a task to. I can find the user using People Picker, however, after adding the user I get the following message:
"An error has occurred in the row. Click for more details". Followed by: "The user does not exist or is not unique"
I found this blog, but that didn't help.

SharePoint 2010 incoming email working for lists but not libraries
Really stumped with this one, incoming email working for lists but I can create a new Doc Library set it up for incoming emails. watch them get put into the drop folder and the disappear when the when the incoming email job runs.
Can anyone give me clue why incoming email work for lists but not libraries?

Audit logs is missing after migration from sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010
We did a migration from Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010, in SP2007 we had Audit logs enabled, after the migration to sp2010 (we used upgrade contnet DBs and backup and restotre approch) the Audit log options are disabled and not history before the migration?
How we can retrive the logs ,or it is lost?

My client want to upgrade one of application of MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010. Client also wants to move from existing Physical enviroment to Virtual environment (MS Hyper-V 2008).

How do I set anonymous access to list items in SharePoint Server 2010 Standard?
Hi,
I have setup anonymous access to my external SharePoint 2010 publishing site. I can see that anonymous access is correctly set on my list where I want users to read items from yet users are prompted to login to view these items? I am creating links to these items from the home page? The typical url string that users are being asked to authenticate in order to view is below:

Issues with the Custom Filter in Datasheet View
I'm seeing some odd, yet intermittent, behavior while trying to filter columns in datasheet view using a custom filter. After clicking to apply a filter to a column and choosing 'Custom Filter...' a pop-up with regular expressions should appear much like the following screenshot:
However sometimes, usually on a page refresh, this pops up instead:
I have been able to replicate this sporadically in both IE 8 and 9 against different columns but it's really inconsistent. I can't seem to find any configuration issues or commonality across the clients that might be responsible. Local installations of Office are 32bit. I know 64bit has been known to cause some issues. I wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue at all or perhaps it has been addressed in a more recent CU than what I am running (14.0.6117.5002). Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

moss ma error after applying dec 2012 cu
After applying the CU for Dec. 2012 we are missing something and can't Sync. We noticed that an entry for ma_type AD is missing from the mms_management_agent table. We get error:

Sharepoint 2010 Quick Launch Navigation doesnt show up for some users. Using audience targeting with sharepoint groups
We are having trouble with inconsistent quick launch navigation on our main web application. Its not permissions for the page because the user can go to the page/site directly via the url and does not get access denied.
We were using audience targeting with groups to only show certain content to people. This has been disabled and we are using straight permissions. Quick Launch Navigation still doesnt work as expected.
I guess in the past, they had to do some rebuilding of these sites using Mange Content and Structure tool. Could this be a reason for quick launch navigation to be so flakey?

Sharepoint lost connections with TFS processes
I posted this over in the TFS forum and was directed that it is a SharePoint issue and to post over here... Including the link from TFS at the end of this.
We have been using the TFS SharePoint integration for some time now. Recently, there is a disconnect between Team Explorer and the Documents directory. I can still see that the information about the files are in the database, but we are getting errors when
trying to connect via Team explorer.
I saw a posting about fixing this via the database, but the table spoken of, tfsIntegration, is not in our databases.
Doing a repair connection via the TFS Admin Console yielded that permissions were reset for some collections, but other collections error out.
What steps do I take to reconnect the documents back to TFS? We are on the TFS Server 2012 version Product Version number 11.0.50727.1.

Visual Web part access to SharePint Hives
Hi all,
My company purchased a third party solution recently and want to deploy to production farm. There is a visual web part in the solution and it doesn't work when I install at the first time in the test farm. After checking with the vendor the response is that the web part loads for the user logged in, it needs a folder to render images temporarily. The developer creates a temp folder at SP hives/images/tempimages. When the web part chart renders initially, the temporary images are written to the folder and the chart is displayed. For the chart to work, users on the portal require write permission to this specific folder so that folder needs to open up (grant "Write" permission) for every users. With all the third party tools we purchased this is the first time I heard we need to open up system drive permission to all users (may include "everyone" group in the domain). Due to security reason I don't feel comfortable to do so. It doesn't seem to be the ONLY way for such task. Since we have the negociation room with this vendor for custom development just want to ask the forum and SP developers about the general practice. Is this Microsoft recommended method for visutal web part development? Does anyone in the forum purchase any solution with such configuraiton?

Unable to remove a read-only content type from a list or library
Consider this scenario:
- A Content Hub is in use and content types are published to a subscriber site.
- I add the subscribed Content Type to a library. Works fine.
- Under Settings for the library, I click the newly added content type. I choose the "Delete" option. I receive the following error:
The content type "MyContentType" at "/MySubsite/MyLibrary" is read only.
I am unable to remove the content type from the library (there are no files in the library). I can delete the entire library and start over, but how can we remove read-only content types from a library after they are applied?
