I want to migrate the web application of classic authentication in SharePoint 2010 to a new web application based on claims authentication in sharepoint 2010. i.e. both the web applications in the same farm (single server).
Can someone guide me on how to proceed with this?
I just created a new web application with Claims authentication. And stucked how to migrate the content db of classis web app to claims web app. And what needs to be done next.

I have lot of team sites all together and ideally we would like to split/separate them into their own entities.
Is this possible using stsadm or are there any other tools out there to do this? I'd be very surprised if I were the first person to ever have a need for doing/asking this!

Dear all,
I have proper service accounts configured for my farm. When I try to open the error showing in health analyser screen in central administration - I am getting access denied.
sharepoint admin, farm admin, services admin, apppool admin, spsservices admin etc. is configured for my system.
Can somebody throw somelight on this issue.

Hi I have created sharepoint User Profile Service application but when I click on it it throws sharepoint error page.
I have checked sharepoint services list and have found that
1. User Profile Service is started
2.User Profile Synchronization is not getting started sometimes it get started but then again stops
Checking the error log have found the following details

I need some suggestion on production Environment for Sharepoint 2010. Right now we have just two Servers, one is (WFE+ Application) server and Sql server (Clustered). As we are trying to integrate with NetSuite and Sharepoint. So we are planning to extend this farm so that we will have 2 WFE Servers, 1 Application Server and Sql server (Clustered). One WFE server will accept request from Internal user(http://example.com) and other WFE server will accept request from Netsuite user (http://ext-example.com). so in this case what will be the best topology for production environment? should i add another application server for redundancy? should i use NLB for two web front end server? or i can go two tier architecture like there will be 2 (WFE+application) server with one cluster server?

What is the correct way of adding additional host headers so that a sharepoint web application will work with both the short name and the fully qualified domain name (FQDN)?
ie I have a web application "Our Intranet", with an "A name" entry setup in DNS to point to the server. The web application was originally setup with the host header property set to "intranet.domainname.com". I am able to access the site by browsing to 'http://ourintranet.domainname.com', but since this is an intranet site only, I would also like users to be able to access the site by typing 'http://ourintranet' rather than having to enter the full qualified domain name. I have SPNs created for both http/ourintranet and http/ourintranet.domainname.com
In the past (MOSS2007), I have done this by adding the binding to the IIS web site for "ourintranet", and then adding a new public Alternate Access Mapping forhttp://ourintranet in Central admin, but this doesn't seem to work - I find that I am being prompted to login when going tohttp://ourintranet. Also, I believe if I make these changes directly in IIS, that I will need to make these changes to all of the web servers, and again if I add additional servers to the farm.
I have also looked at extending the web application, but it seems a bit strange to have to create another site just to allow access on either the FQDN or the short name, and would also mean that any changes to the original site (eg web.config changes) would need to be applied to the additional sites as well.
I am not sure if it has any impact, but the web application is using claims based authentication.
So what is the CORRECT way of achieving this.

I have just migrated our SharePoint content database from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010. Post migration we are having a problem with one list. Initially none of the items in the list were visible and all that was displayed was a corrolation ID. The default view was ammended so that the data could be displayed. However, now when an item in the list is clicked to view or edit it the system raises an exception with another Corrolation ID.
Searching through the logs provides the following details that relate to the ID. Can anyone suggest what is causing this and the steps i could take to resolve the issue?

i've got a question regarding an info path deployment. When i as an farm administrator upload an info path form via central admin (i.e. admin approved), it is available in every site collection in the farm (site collection administrator can activate the corresponding feature in their site collection). I'd like to restrict the availability of this info path form to only a few site collections / site collection administrators. Is this possible?

I am involve in migration of a teamsite which is in MOSS 2007, to Sharepoint 2010.
I am using database attach method for this.
I successfully took backup of a database and restored it into SQL server 2008 , which is in the new SP 2010 Farm.
Now before i attach it to a particular web application i wanted to check this database, so i ran
Test-SPContentdatabase command in the powershell and it is giving me an error message
"WebPart class [bc878bd0-b48e-3265-7c9e-1e2f38c2a41a] is referenced [30] times in the database [SP_ContentDb], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this web part. "
I have found a post (Below Link) but i am not eligible for any third party tool to read the output file.

For a deployment I try to play a powerShell script to create 2 sitesCollections :

I am running SP 2010 SP1 with 2 APP Server and 2 Web Server. User Profile Synchronization Service is on APP 1. Problem is that User Profile Synchronization Service Hangs on Starting. I have done following steps.
- Stop Timer Service
- Clear All chache
- Get-SPServiceInstance
- Stop-SPServiceInstance <GUID>
- IISRESET
- Restart Server
Try to restart service using CA but again starting state. pls guide how to start it again.

Sharepoing group is not displaying complete list of its members, while viewing the group through site.
If I access the same sharepoint group using Sharepoint Designer, it is displaying all the members from that group.
Please advise, if there are any known issues or limitations.
We are using Sharepoint Foundation and I'm Site Collection Admin.
