Is there a max best bet keywords we should use in site collections?  Im currently at 50 best bets.  These best bets really help my organization when searching certain terms.

I've been fighting with this patch off and on for a few weeks.  A little background, this is a multi-server developement teir farm recently upgraded from 2007 via database upgrades.  This is not the first patch that has been installed since the upgrade but it is the first that is failing.  I've tried disabling AV, running via psconfig, restarting admin/timer services.  I've verified and corrected DCOM security settings  http://www.ericjochens.com/2013/06/sharepoint-server-eventid-10016-dcom.html 

I'm not seeing anything in the SQL logs or the eventlogs of consequence.  
As the patch runs I get a series of (15 or so) "patchca not found. Falling back" errors EventID 999p in the trace logs.  

I see this prior to that and am unsure if it's related: "The health rule contained in Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Util.InfoPathStateServiceConfigurationHealthRule could not be  registered.   A file with the name InfoPath Forms Services forms cannot be filled out in a Web browser because no State Service connection is configured. already exists. It was last modified by ********* on 1/23/2013 2:46 AM."
In the SharePoint error logs themselves I see loads of warnings about missing features but it skips through those, I see several of the below errors, this is from one web app, it will repeat the errors for all the web applications:

We are not currently using My Sites. We have a web application set aside for my sites but that's all. On our main intranet, if somone searches for a user they get the option to either "Add as a colleague" or to "Browse in organizational chart". If you click on either of these, the following error pops up "Could not load user profile" and you can see that it is trying to access the My Sites web application.

I would like it so that users do not even see the option of "Add as a colleague" or "Browse in organizational chart". Is there a way for me to turn this off?

I already created a site collection HR and subsite (spweb) Jobs on WebApp2. 

Import-SPWeb fails with - "Error: The folder that would hold URL /HR/Jobs does not exist on the server"

I recently integrated Apache as ReverseProxy for SharePoint 2010. When accessing the SharePoint application via the reverse proxy url  e.g. http://<reverse-proxy-url>/SitePages/Home.aspx the images/css and JavaScript files does not comeup fine.

I had defined the following mapping in the httpd.conf file.

ProxyPass /SitePages  http://<actual-url>/SitePages
<Location /SitePages>
ProxyPassReverse http://<actual-url>/SitePages

Hi all

I clicked on "start" to start the "User Profile Synchronization Service", and now it's stuck on "starting". It has been like that for many hours now. I googled, and found that a lot of people had problems with it, but no solution. So, if anyone here has a solution, please let me know :-)

I set up document routing to Records Center thru IM policy, it works. The document becomes a link in source library after it moves to the RC. But the link is broken, and I found that's because the %20  (represents a space) become "%2520" in url.

But the url of the document get from the library (via Send to >Email a link context menu) is correctly shown "%20" and it worked.

Does anyone know how that happens? Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Our SharePoint Server 2010 server (single server) farm is at this level 14.0.6106.5002. To my understanding it is SP1 with June CU 2011.

Now we would like to upgrade the server to level April 13 CU. I have therefore followed this linkhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2775353 and request the hotfix.

The file I downloaded is 462150_intl_x64_zip.exe

Yesterday I tried to apply the CU and I got an error "unexpected version".

I believe that I have downloaded the right file to update the firm, but I'm not sure why I get the error.

Could you please help?

I've inherited a farm (lucky me) - where the documentation is "not present" ...                        

However under an automatic re-store with a specific tool of the MySite, the MySite webapp got totally deleted and only solution was to manually create a new MySite webapp using the latest (normal) SQL backup databases (userprofile DB, SyncDB etc.)

However the MySite now seems to lacks some functionality – and my guess is that there’s missing some solutions references.

In the farm - I can see there’s some solutions specific for MySite  - but all have the “The solution was successfully deployed” – and a timestamp that is older than the re-created MySite  

Can I check if the MySite is missing some solutions reference?

And is it necessary to re-deploy/update these solutions – or?

We have SharePoint 2010 farm using Kerberos for authentication that works fine for almost all scenarios, except this last issue we see with PerformancePoint and the Dashboard Designer.

When our Data Connections library is empty I can start the Dashboard Designer and create a New Data Source. Clicking on Save the data source is saved in the correct location (default PPS library).

However, once I do an action that requires the Dashboard Designer to read the list of data sources from this library I get an access issue. This could be by trying to create a report using the saved data source or by closing the Dashboard Designer and opening it again to create a data source.

This error is logged in the ULS log and Event Viewer:

We did not have an Unattended Service Account for PPS as we want to do Per-User Identify only, but we tried to add this as well and still have the same issue. And the WCF fix referred to in other articles where the same kind of problem is referred to has been installed on the server.

We can see that authentication is working correctly as the error message includes my login name and I have Full Control on the data connections library. So the question is if the Dashboard Designer tries to read the list of data connections in a manner that we have not configured for. This is of course strange as it does not mind saving the data source the first time, but then fails when trying to read it. Any help is appreciated.

I am running into a severe issue when trying to create a simple connection to a SharePoint 2010 list using Visio 2010 Premium and Pro.  I am going through the simple setup of connecting the data using the LInk Data to Shapes button on the external data ribbon.  It allows me to go completely through the wizard, picking the list I want to connect to and everything.  I get to the last page of the wizard, which states, "You have successfully imported your data.  Click Finish to continue.  When I click "Finish", I get an error stating that Microsoft Visio has stopped working, and windows is searching for a solution.  It never finds the solution either, it just restarts.

I submitted a ticket to our HelpDesk, and they can reproduce the issue on several other machines going to several different SharePoint sites and lists.  They have tried disabling McAfee but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  We also looked for installed Add-Ons, but there are none.  I am running Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1 and Office 2010, Visio 2010 Premium, on a 64-bit system which is running 32-bit Office and Visio.

Even when I try to connect to an Excel Workbook or Access database, I get the following alert:  The selected file is not a Microsoft Excel file or is currently inaccessible. or Microsoft Visio cannot connect to this data source.  I just thought I would add this info in case this is not a SharePoint issue.  At any rate, at least Visio doesn't crash when trying to connect to an Excel workbook or Access database.

Does anyone have any insight as to what would cause this type of behavior?  I even tried to connect to a sample database as stated in http://blog.bvisual.net/2008/07/24/using-sharepoint-calendars-with-visio-timelines/, but received the same crash.

Hello Everyone,

I got a very strange problem recently and hope that anyone can help me.

I cannot open any  pages in SharePoint (2010, standard )  library  any more.

When I tried it in internet explorer (IE8,9,10), if I click on any page in the pages library or wiki page library, it always prompts to ask me to open or save it . If I right click on it, and then select “open” or “open in a new tab”, it is just opened without any probelms.  

When I tried it in chrome, the page is just getting downloaded automatically.

When I tried it in firefox, it prompts to ask me to open or save, if I choose to use Internet explorer to open the file, then I will get an error message, saying:  request failed Unexpected response from server. The status code of response is '0'. The status text of response is ''.nnull ”.

This strange behavior started about a week ago. There is no server updates or changes meantime. The last deployment of SharePoint farm solutions is in August 2012. I have done some search in google and tried many suggestions/solutions, like change web application “Browser File Handling” to “Permissive”, and during the trial, I check everytime that the advanced settings of the library  is “Open in Browser”, etc. But it just doesn’t work .  iisreset, reboot server , also no help.

I create a new web in the same web application, the problems remains. I also created a new web application, but the problems still remains the same.

Hi! I have a problem with a user in my Exchange 2010: He doesn't receive ANY sharepoint email.

For example, I have a list with a simple workflow that sends an email to a "Assigned To" person. It works perfectly with any user of the Active Directory, except with this user.

I've logged the SMTP server used by Sharepoint and I can see the emails Sharepoint sends for any user. However, when I put this user on the "Assigend To" field, any email message appears in the SMTP server, so, Sharepoint isn't sending any email for this user.

Then I've enabled logging in Sharepoint, and I can see this message when Sharepoint try to send the email for the problematica user:

Coercion (MultiEmailAddressSemicolon) warning: E-mail address not found for CONTOSO\Steve

I've review ten times my AD record for that user, and all is ok. He has his email addres there. I've compared the AD record of one working user with this not-working user and I can't find any differences.

I have noticed that users who do recieve the emails are shown in the "Assigend to" field with their display name, however users who don't receive the emails are shown in the "Assigned to" fied with their domain name. For example:

• In the "Assigned to" field, a user that does receive Sharepoint emails looks like: Michael Farrow Logan
• In the "Assigned to" field, a user that doesn't receive Sharepoint emails looks like: CONTOSO\Steve

Can you help me?
