Cannot restore site backup - schema version does not match

Hi all,

Is it possible to restore a site backup from an earlier version of SharePoint 2013 onto a newer version of SharePoint 2013?

How?

I try to restore a site backup with the PowerShell command Restore-SPSite.

Although the error in PowerShell is not very helpful:

    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (Microsoft.Share...dletRestoreSite:SPCmdletRestoreSite) [Restore-SPSite], DirectoryNotFoundException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletRestoreSite

I get the following error in my ULS log:

Could not deserialize site from <path>. Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Schema version of backup 15.0.4420.1017 does not match current schema version 15.0.4481.1005     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite.Restore(String filename, Boolean isADMode, Boolean& readOnlyMode, Boolean& hadWriteLock)

Apparently this error is not fatal, but the subsequent DirectoryNotFoundException is.

I have some clients that when trying to use the "Copy Slide to Presentation" button, with single or multiple slides selected, nothing happens.   It appears that PowerPoint is attempting to launch (there is a brief pause and the Windows 7 tool bar flashes for a very small moment) but it never does.

This is only affecting some of the users.  Any ideas what I can check?

Windows 7 64bit OS with IE 8.0.7601 (32bit) browsers, SharePoint 2010, PowerPoint 2007, Active X is enabled.

IIS Stops After Installing SharePoint Solution?

Hello SharePoint Fam,

Recently on the last 3-4 SharePoint solution installs IIS is completely stopping and I am having to manually start it back up.  This has never happened in the past at all.  Is there a configuration I need to look into or app pool config I need to change to stop this from happening?

Images not appears in sharepoint site for user

          I have created a share point site for user and given full control permissions to users, One of my user in not getting images appeared in site with his credentials.

SharePoint 2010 sql server 2012 reporting service cannot start on second WFE server

Hi all,

Does somone can help me out for the following question?

why I cannot start SQL Server Reporting Services on my second web server?

It shows: "Error starting"

Summary environment:

I performed the installation of Reporting services-SharePoint & Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products on two WFE servers.

s1: sp2010 foundation with sp1

s2: sp2010 foundation with sp2

s3: sharepoint content db and reporting server :sql 2012 with sp1.

SitePages libary corrupted - cannot set metadata values to columns (they don't show up in Edit and View properties forms)

My Issue is that in a SitePages library, we can no longer set the values for metadata for the columns.  The columns still show up in views, and in Library Settings, but when users and admins click view properties or edit properties the do not see these columns/metadata fileds.  I checked to make sure that infopath wasn't used on new or edit form and columns hidden/deleted.

  • The wiki pages are available, viewable, and the content could be edited.
  • The metadata such as Category [choice], SubCategory[text], Ratings, cannot not be modified.

I spent several hours and I feel the library may be corrupted.

Any thoughts?

How To configure Apache As Reverse Proxy for SharePoint Application

Hi,

I recently integrated Apache as ReverseProxy for SharePoint 2010. When accessing the SharePoint application via the reverse proxy url  e.g. http://<reverse-proxy-url>/SitePages/Home.aspx the images/css and JavaScript files does not comeup fine.

I had defined the following mapping in the httpd.conf file.

ProxyPass /SitePages  http://<actual-url>/SitePages
<Location /SitePages>
ProxyPassReverse http://<actual-url>/SitePages
SetEnv force-nokeepalive 1
</Location>

Hi Team,

            Iam synchronizing share point site to work space. where iam unable to synchronize the site, getting error as mentioned below:

1).SharePoint work space detected an error in the configuration of this list.

2).If i select on the particular folder, start synchronizing: getting error as:

the following fields have types that are not supported in share point work space.

could you please let me know an appropriate solution.

Web Analytic Traffic & Search report is not working

Hi,

We're currently experiencing partial Web Analytic report failure or not showing. The service application has been recreated:

1. Web Analytic service running

2. Web Analytic Data processing service also running.

3. Usage Data collection enabled

4. Health Data collection enabled

A. Inventory returns value & working good.

B. Traffic & Search returns no result

Can someone shed a light on the problem I have?  Any help is appreciated!

Timer Job Issues and Web Servers seemingly out of sync

I've setup and currently administer a server farm for an organization.

The configuration used to be 2 load balanced SharePoint Dual Role (Web/App) Servers.

About a month ago I added 2 more SharePoint servers and setup them up as application servers

then changed the first two servers to Web functions (front-ends) only. Since then I have been experiencing a lot of

performance issues. For one, a lot of the central administration jobs I initiate do not complete unless

I run stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs and I need to do this on the two front-end servers. Whether it is creating a new service

application or deploying a new solution it stays at starting or deploying until I run the stsadm command.

It appears though that the jobs all run on one of the front-ends and not the other.

Also yesterday I noticed that on one of the front-ends I can access a library by <a href="file://\\\DavWWWRoot\sites\<sitecollection>\<libraryname">\\<portal>\DavWWWRoot\sites\<sitecollection>\<libraryname>, but when I try to access this same path on the

other front-end I get an error saying "The operation being requested was not performed because the user has not been authenticated." That is after I installed Windows Desktop Experience Feature.

Also when I run workflows from SharePoint Designer and I specify any local resources it appears to look for these resources always on that particular front-end server with this issue

any assistance would be much appreciated

make the list Read only in sharepoint 2010

Hello All

I have a requirement where I need to make the list read Only for 1 day, so that when the user tries to update the list they cannot and it should pop up an message saying that(for eg:) "List in under modification and changes made wont be updated". 

Is there a way to do this? The reason behind this requirement is we receive weekly updated List from HR which I need to sync with the SP list. So when I am syncing I want to refrain the user from updating the list.

Any ideas, suggestions will be helpful.

I thought of removing the access, but again that will create a wrong impression on the user side and this might not motivate them to use the list in future.

SharePoint 2010 Top Link Bar error trying to add navigation (_layouts/newnav.aspx)

Hi Microsoft,

after moving content a specific subsite (subweb) has broken navigation now. If i use inherit from parent nav I only get the home link. If i break inheritance and try to create a new navigation link, _layouts/newnav.aspx,  I get an error saying an error has occurred (useless). ULS says that a value is null or out of range. Can I get a navigation expert from microsoft to possibly shed some light on this issue?

Mobile View missing a Task List

Hey guys so i have a Task list that does not show up in the Mobile veiw, the Mobile view is enabled for it and if i click the copied link for it, it opens up fine but it does not show up under "All Site Content" I have even turned it into a template and created a new site and template of this site does not appear. I then proceded to see if newly created Task Lists will appear and they do just fine it's just this particular Task list that does not show up. Help is much appreciated, thanks.

How can I access new Site http://xyz:{Port Number}  using some other name and without port number directly  .

Have a calendar list in SharePoint Server 2010, where I would like to send an alert only when a list item related to a selected view is added/modified/deleted.  The option to create an alert based upon a selected view doesn't appear for calendar type lists in SP 2010.  It does, however appear for task type lists in SP 2010.  Could do this using MOSS 2007. 

Have group calendar with added list item to identify specific teams within division.  Have separate views where calendar is filtered by team column.  Only want to receive alert when someone on my team updates calendar.  With this design, division manager can view calendar entries for division, or by team.

Any idea why alert by view not available in SharePoint 2010?

Sharepoint 2010 Search - Lotus Notes Crawling

Hi All,


I'm new to the sharepoint world but I learn pretty quickly.  I've setup sharepoint search to crawl against some lotus notes databases.  My question is, how do I get rid of the $DEFAULTVIEW that appears in the search results?  I would like to remove this and replace it with custom information.

 

For instance:  I search "XBOX 360"

 

I get notes://server/database/xbox360.nsf/$DEFAULTVIEW/NotesDocID

 

The $DEFAULTVIEW is corrupting my view and link to the notes doc id. 

 

Anyway to fix this?
