SharePoint 2010: Ribbon on document library does not load
Hello,
I have a user where on some sites that he uses the document library fails to load. We are on SharePoint 2010, Enterprise Edition. The problem is just on his Windows 7 PC, and no others have reported the problem. He is using IE 10.
Can you give me some possible things to try to fix the issue?

library column default value settings are not working
Hi we have been using sharepoint 2010 for the past couple of years. We have a number of site collections where we do the following:
we have a template site (team site) which we preconfigure
we save this site as a template
then during the course of the business process...
we create sub sites from this template/solution for each new project that we have
after we create a site from a template we set column default values on the library that is in this team site
this has been working fine in 2007 and in 2010 (well we never worried about metadata in 2007 but we are now in 2010)...
we have just found a big problem. Whenever we update the template site (by making some configuration changes to it, deactivating the existing solution/wsp and deleting it and saving our revised site as the same template), the column default values settings in all of the sites that were created from the original wsp/template site stop working with regards to column default values settings.
So If I go into and old site that was created before i replaced the site template/wsp/solution, and create a document, the default values do not flow through to the document even though you can see in column value default settings for this library are still set... I have started a support case for this and so far the support engineer has not been able to duplicate this behavious. So I thought I would throw it out to the forums to see if anyone else has had this problem. This problem has me seriously reconsidering our architecture and thining about using document sets instead, although that is a lot of work to switch over to a different architecture...
The support engineer has told me that this is not "best practice" delteing site templates/solutions while there are still child sites that have been created from this wsp in the site collection. We never considered this and it is bad for us as we have a lot of production sites like this... It would be nice if we never had to update our wsp/templates but unfortunately in the real word templates need updating... And there is no way to do this unless we deactivte, delete and re-save as template...

Alert Me button disabled on all sites, should be enabled
When users (including site Owners and Administrators) try to use the Set Alert on This Item button, it says the control is disabled. I did confirm that the users have the right permissions needed for Create Alerts.
However, if the user goes into Manage My Alerts and manually adds an alert for the same item, it seems to work fine.
This issue seems to be server-wide. Happens on every Site Collection.
Any ideas?

Web application must have anonymous authentication disabled for "export as data feed" to work with PowerPivot
SharePoint 2010, SP1, Dec 2011 CU on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise w/ SP1
I installed PowerPivot on the farm, and I now get the "Export as data feed" link in the ribbon on sharepoint lists. when I click the link the browser downloads a file, when I open it, it opens excel and PowerPivot and tries to import/link to the data.
However, it always fails. the SharePoint server shows errors in the event log:
WebHost failed to process a request. Sender Information: System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostingEnvironment+HostingManager/5598643 Exception: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/_vti_bin/listdata.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation.
Web searches led me to a recommended solution of disabling anonymous authentication on the SharePoint web application. I tested that, and while it does work, we use anonymous access in some of our sharepoint sites - I can't disable it for the web application. I tried disabling anonymous authentication on just the /_vti_bin/listdata.svc file via IISAdmin, but that doesn't resolve the error.
Is there some method of making this work without disabling anonymous access on the entire web application? that is a pretty big thing to require.

Can't enter the SP:s website
Goal:
Enable to enter the website of central administration and its site collection.
Problem:
When I enter the website, I get a error message:
Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable."
What course of action should I do?
- I'm a newbie in SharePoint 2013
- The error has to do with web server.

I need to make a survey that will automatically reset itself every week, allowing users who have previously responded to the survey to respond once again to the same questions. I cannot find anything that pertains to this on SharePoint or through an internet

Farm Migration
Hi,
I'm setting up a new SP2010 farm and using export-spweb and import spweb to move over sites from the old farm to the new farm.
I have one site with lists and doc libraries with thousands on documents that contain metadata from lookup columns. While the documents get moved over the metadata does not.
Does any one know of a way of how I can move all the documents over to the new farm with the associated metadata intact.

Signing into SharePoint takes me to default/home page?
I do not know what happened to my environment but it appears that did! When I sign into SharePoint, no matter FBA or AD, it always goes to the default/home page and never even looks at the referrer? Any thoughts to what could be happening? This has

“_layouts” pages in Web analytics report
Hi,
Is there any way we can exclude the pages in the "layouts" folder from appearing in web analytics reports such as "Top Pages"? I am getting too much hits to "userdisp.aspx" file and there by resulting in an incorrect report. My site contains mostly article and wiki pages.

So, what I have and what I've done:.
1) I have a test 2-servers farm installation (Database server + WFE/Application server); SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, SHP 2010 SP1 + October 2012 CU; There are no any service applications except default ones(Security Token Service and Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application) as well as there are no any services started except default :)
2) I created a site collection and manage path for MySites, created a new UPA and its proxy.
That's all. Now, if I try starting User Profiles Synchronization Service, it stucks on "starting" for about 10 mins and I see the error above in ULS. Hope you can somehow help me.

By the way, I don't want a both sides synchronization this time, I just need to check some stuff with People Search. Will "Read" rights for Managed Account in AD be enough to export profiles from AD? (I mean if I select my farm account as a synchronization account, will it work?)

Unable to Install WSP on SP-2010 1:1:1 farm
Dear Experts,
Had a query, I am unable to Deploy a WSP file on SP-2010 Farm. Farm has 1 WFE, 1 APP, 1 DB. Initially the farm was 2 -Tier which we later made 3-tier by adding additional machine. I am getting Local Farm not accessible message, and some times access denied. I checked by Disabling User Acounts Group. and checked all server account was added to Local Admin Group. Previous Administrators were able to do so. Am I missing something.

How is BDC model deployed in the production server where there will be no connection between prod/ staging & production server? you can only send some staff to prod server.

SharePoint 2010: Not able to access site collection: Page Not Found
Hi,
I have a web application and multiple site collections in it. each of the site collections reside in separate content databases. Suddenly, I am not able to access one of the site collection. Although I am able to view the content database for that site collection in SQL and also in Central admin. I can also see the site collection in View All Site Collections in CA.
But if I try to access the site collection(or any sites inside it) it gives Page Not Found Error.
The only change that was done on sever was that backup agent was configured and a backup was triggered using that agent. Is it because of that? or is there something else that went wrong?

User Profile Sync Service returning items that should be filtered out
I have two SharePoint 2010 farms on the same domain (dev and prod). Both have the same configuration settings for User Profile import. However, the number of items in the prod environment is more than the dev environment (661 versus 648). I can see items in the prod User Profiles that should be excluded based on the filter criteria. These items are not in the Dev environment.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting this? Have others seen similar behaviour? Both servers are in the same data centre and talking to the same domain controller (as far as I can tell)

Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException - Disaster recovery of Sharepoint 2010

I have been palying a disaster recovery for weeks of a Sharepoint 2010.
Both Sharepoint and SQL needed to be reconfigured from scratch.
At this stage, all seems well. Since my New SQL server has a different name, I am using alias translation both on 32/64bit config on my Sharepoint,
Running my wizard went fine. But after Upgrades like SP1 and the July update - running wizard again - just wont finish. At Level 5 og 6 - at 90% something, i get an error.

Logging on to Central Administration / Upgrade and transfer / "Update Status " ( this is a non English Version), no action is required under Status, except my SearchAdminDatabase has status as "New and not supported".
To my Sharepoint-Site - this is not available via IIS....
So my question is - are there any more "granular" PSConfig "check/repair" commands that I can run? Or is this a AD cleanup task? I am lost.
When Running:
PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures
I get my error - and when playing With tricks like different Versions of kicking "net start SPTraceV4 & net start SPWriterV4 & net start SPAdminV4 & net start SPSearch4 & net start SPTimerV4" at different stages - the "Upgrade" wont finish.
Allso - my Content Database is not available ??!?!?! on Central Administration / Content Database view

for some users profile pictures are not getting updated in AD
Hi,
For some users profile pictures are not updating or synchronizing in AD from SharePoint. When I checked for the picture urlin database it is null for all users. Even I used a powershell script using userprofile manager to get the picture url value for all users but it is still giving no result. In MIISClient I checked for those users data is not at all exporting or coming in the log after running incremental sync.
So my questions are
1) what to do next in order to resolve this issue.
2) Why Picture URL is null when every user has picture in mysite.

Unable to create the enterprise Wiki Site from SharePoint 2010 Publishing site, Save Conflict. Any Temp Fixes or Which CU ?
We are in Sp2010 Sp1 now. we have no issues with creating wiki sites on a newly created site collections, but those content databases upgraded from MOSS 2007 SP2 is having the below issue.
Could anyone suggest which latest or which best CU could fix this issue ?
If there is any other temp fixes, please let us know.
