Formatted Web Front End and reinstalled SharePoint with autospinstaller, but getting http 500 error message on sites

Anyone able to assist me with an issue i'm having, I formatted my web front end due to some issues with the operating system, so I rebuilt the operating system back to Server 2008 R2 with sp1 and adding it back to the domain, then i re-ran the autospinstaller script i'm using and everything seemed to go through smoothly. I used the same naming conventions I used previously and the server is back to the same name "WFE" however the only difference is that the IP address has been assigned a different IP address.

After the install was done everything seemed working as intended the sites were all in IIS and everything seemed okay, just that I was getting server 500 message. I then manually pointed the address back to the app server which is also still being used as a front end and everything work correctly after having it in my host file.

Changing the host back to point to the real WFE caused the server 500 message again, i have tried a reboot of WFE and a IIsreset but no avail.

Is this problem caused by me not removing the WFE first from central admin before the reinstall? or perhaps that the WFE now has a different IP address or does sharepoint not really care what IP address I have as long as the machine name is the same?

Any help would be great.

Thanks
