ErrorHey community, I have inherited a farm and there is no automation for backups. I would like to do that soon, but my immediate need is to delete an old farm backup since I just took one recently (plus it would be good to know).
Is it just as simple as deleting the folder that contains the old farm backup? Sorry if this question is extremely stupid to all of you....just don't want to see anything blow up. Will I have to edit the spbrtoc.xml file? Or will the spbrtoc.xml file update/recreate itself after the next farm backup and not have any issues?
Also, in case it wasn't apparent, I am new to SharePoint. Thankfully, there are many, many resources on the Internet to help, but my immediate searches did not turn up anything that is exactly what I am asking because I guess it is way too basic, so I am turning to you guys.

We have new SharePoint farm with ADFS 2.1 farm (so farm ADFS + PROXY) installed and working.
One of our requests is to change signing certificate so we could sign in using different URL.
I found it very confusing to change these certificates, so instead I would like to reinstall ADFS configuration with newly certificate. To do that, I must "remove" all my SAML Provider configuration from our SharePoint farm (correct me if I'm wrong).
How can I achieve my goal?

I have SharePoint 2010 RTM small farm with frontend and backend servers. I trying now to create script that runs full farm backups of SharePoint 2010.
The script is as following: Backup-SPFarm -Directory \\server1\ -BackupMethod full -overwrite
However when I run SharePoint Management Shell in the frontend server, I get error "The local farm is not accessible. Cmdlets with FeatureDependancyId are not registered"
I'm using server admin account to Shell. This account has db_owner rights to WSS_Content database.
What should I do to fix it?

I've setup SSRS integration to SharePoint 2010 in the WEB server, it is a small server farm consists of one WEB server and one DB server, it work fine and it was able to browse the SSRS report on SharePoint.
However, the SSRS was down and the report cant be open, browse to SharepointSite\reportserver hit http 500 Internal Error.
below are the troubleshooting steps I've tried:
- SSRS services up in WEB server and DB server
- ping from WEB and DB was established
- no Error on the Event Viewer
so, what other things I should check? or I should recreate the SSRS service again?

There are 3 webapplications in Sharepoint and for every site homepage all the users have the read only access
i have added the NT Authority/Authenticated Users for all the 3 sites
but i had a requirement in which i had to give just folder Permission to one of the users and that user should not view the homepage contents so what i did is i created a security group in Active Directory and added all the users to that group except the 1 user that i dont want to give him the homepage access
i updated all the webparts of the homepage and added the security group in Target audience option of the webpart and every one can view the homepage except that one user
every thing was working fine
but recently i have done the full user profile synchronization, in audience targeting option of a webpart when i am searching for a security group it is not appearing
before it use to appear but since i have done the profile synchronization i am not able to search the security group of active directory
please help me to solve this issue.

My requirement is,I have a user say user@domain1.com in one domain(i.e domain1). I need to sync this user(i.euser@domain1.com) to another domain controller/active directory(i.e domain2) so that the particular user has the rights/permissions to access both the domains.

Hi, we are using Sharepoint 2013 online and CRM 2011 online - Is there a way to synch the tasks list that we create in SharePoint back to CRM 2011 online? its a very basic tasks that has state/end dates and some description and notes that's all.
If its not possible out-of-box, how can we access the task list in sharepoint programmatically - From CRM, I would simply create a plug-in on create/update of Task and would like to pass the record over to Sharepoint list and would like to do the same from sharepoint as well. Any idea would be very helpful.
We have a single user who, when trying to download a PowerPivot workbook, is getting the over simplified "An error has occurred". He can and will open the workbook in Excel services, without issue, and when he clicks the File > Download a copy, that is when he gets the "An error has occurred" popup.
His co-worker can do these steps without issue and when she logs on to his computer, it again, gives the error which is what points me to his system. They both have the same version of Excel installed on their systems.
Has anyone seen this kind of issue before? If so, any suggestions for correction?

Is it possible to enable SSRS within our current SP2010 Server farm? I have seen numerous doco, but all are pointing to the fact the I need an additional server which I then need to integrate into the farm as a WFE.
I currently have a 2xWFE, 3xApp and 1xDB server setup and would like to run ssrs within the environment, not have to create an additional server, and thereby have to pay for another sql licence.
I have not found any doco to date that explains whether this is possible.
I am running 2008R2, SQL Ent, SP2010 Sp1, with a service account that has DBO access to the reportserver (and RStemp) DB's.

Should FIM be updated independently of SharePoint 2010 or should all FIM updates be handled through the SharePoint Cummulative Updates?
I just noticed that FIM has received numerous updates and services packs, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2229.fim-2010-build-overview.aspx.
In our SP 2010 farm we have installed the SP April 2013 CU but the FIM Client on the server that is running the UserProfile Service is still showing 4.0.2592.0, which is actually below the FIM RTM version.

Occasionally, when authors are editing a page in one of the sub-sites, the site out cache settings gets changed on that sub-site and reverts to one of the other profiles for no apparent reason.
Is the sub-site inheriting something from the author when they check-in the page that causes the cache profile to change? Any ideas from anybody much appreciated...

I connected SharePoint Calendar to Outlook without a problem, but I want Outlook Calendar to be displayed in everybody's Outlook who have access in SharePoint Site. Currently, I'm the only one who can see it, and I did it before but I forgot how to do it.
