With the LDAP Provider that is part of SharePoint Server, you can specifiy that the userNameAttribute be the AD value for email. This is not possible with the SQL Provider that is part of Foundation. Do you know of a free or commerical LDAP Provider
for SharePoint Foundaton (either 2010 or 2013)?
