BDLC Connection String error 'Login Failed for user.'

I am trying to use a product my Layer2 called BDLC or Business Data List Connector with my SharePoint 2010 Enterprise install. I've followed the directions online and watched YouTube videos posted by the Layer2 to configure and setup their product, however, I continue to receive an error "Login failed for user ... ". We have also created a new user login in the database for this specific user id. What am I doing wrong?
