unable to start User profile synchronization service in SharePoint 2010

I am unable to start User profile synchronization service in SharePoint 2010. Please help

below is copy of error in event logs. I tried every possible solution in internet

SharePoint 2010, Word Office Web App, embedded hyperlink using docidredir.aspx returns "blocked://"

I have word documents stored in a SP2010 document library with embedded links to other documents stored in other document libraries. The links are formatted as relative path :

../../_layouts/docidredir.aspx?id=id01

I'm using the Document ID Service and Web Apps.

When I use the word web app to view the document and then click the link to open the linked document in word web app, the server returns a new window with the address of "blocked:../../_layouts/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=ID_01" and a 'Webpage cannot be displayed" message.

Using MS Office Word application, the link opens the linked document correct. If I copy and paste the link into an IE address bar the file open correctly. Only when opening from the word web app do I experience the "blocked://" error.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this behaviour?  Thanks in advance!

Ad user not able to access SharePoint 2010

Hello all,

I got a very strange one here for me. 

One of my SharePoint 2010 server i get for one user only an account failed to log on.

The problem is the user is on AD and we have many systems and all of them works fine with the login and password. I checked and triple checked her AD account all is good no problems.

There is about 1000 user using this server and no problems with any of them just this one user.

This says the account is locked but it is defiantly not.

I cleared SP2010 cache, added the user explicitly. 

Check all SP2010 Logs nothing to indicate any problem.

Managed Metadata problem - Help requested!

Hi, I use SharePoint 2010.

From Central Admin > Service Applications > Managed Metadata I can access the term store without any issues. All good here.
BUT
When I go to my site collection > settings > Term Store Management - I get this error prompt with ONLY these details:

There was an error processing the request.

That's all, no other error received. I cannot see any relevant error in ULS logs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have been scratching my head for over a week now.

Images not displayed on SharePoint pages

Hello,

I am facing an issue with SharePoint pages suddenly started not displaying images. Even the SharePoint default images are not getting loaded on the pages. It gives a 'X' in place of each image. I have observed the same when trying to load /Sitepages/home.aspx.

can someone please help me in resolving this issue ?

SharePoint Foundation Search V4 keeps getting disabled/Search Foundation Search stopped

The SharePoint Foundation Search V4 service keeps getting disabled.  I do not know at this point as to why.  It had been turned on fine.  Here is what I am doing.

  1. In Central Administration, go to System Settings->Services on Server.Select the SharePoint Foundation Search service and click Start
  2. Enter and/or confirm the settings on the Search service page (service account, username, password)
  3. Press Start to start the service  I am at a loss.
UPDATE:
Strangely the service now says it is started, but on the services page, it says it ios stopped.  What is going on?

Possible to use PowerShell to create a list from template INLUDING workflow associations?

I think I've found a significant shortcoming in the functionality of the SPListCollection.Add method.  In the past, I've used it with much success to create new lists from built-in templates (with no workflow associations) -but I've recently been trying to use it to create new lists from a custom template that includes workflow associations, and everything appears to work fine EXCEPT the template's workflow associations are not given to the newly created list!

When creating a list from a template using the site/GUI, the workflow associations are included.  So there appears to be something missing in the functionality of SPListCollection.Add.  The big problem here is that I can't seem to find a way around it.  Has anyone found a way to create lists using PowerShell while inluding the corresponding workflow associations?

OWSTimer running 100% CPU and Workflows pausing at 0%

For the past 3 days, all the servers on my farm are running OWSTimer at 100% and under Timer Job Status, Workflows are stuck at pausing at 0%.

I've tried the following:

  1. Clear SharePoint cache on on the servers
  2. Reboot the servers
  3. restart OWSTImer
  4. I stopped all search crawls (just to see if that would help)
  5. I disabled the Workflow Timer Job and was able to clear out previously stuck Worklow at 0% pausing

I can't figure out what happened.  This farm was running fine for the past year and no updates were made.

I can tell you the following items that were changed last week:

  1. I had a tool on the one WFE in which I changed a security policy: LAN Manager authentication level setting to be: "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" -reverted this setting to the default but it didn't fix it.
  2. We increased $app.UserDefinedWorkflowMaximumComplexity = 30000 as a user needed to deploy a WF with more than 4 approval WFs.  Ireverted this setting as well back to 7000.
  3. The SQL server is low on space and we are working on getting this resolved, but not sure that this would cause it, right?

I've looked at hte 14 hive logs, but nothing jumps out as being the issue. 

any suggestions?

Site Actions Menu fails for extranet site

We have a web app which has been extended for Extranet. Strangely, all the silverlight enabled buttons like Add Document, Site Actions Menu etc. fail for the extranet site. All other links work. Also, everything works perfect within the intranet.

How to solve worker process issue in sharepoint 2010 ?

Hi, 

Please suggest which is the best method for sharepoint 2010 worker process and application pool has processing well.

A worker process with process id of '3904' serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' was shutdown due to inactivity.

Application Pool timeout configuration was set to 20 minutes.
A new worker process will be started when needed.

How to display custom filed value in People Search??

Hi,

My requirement is i need to create custom list "Employee List" in a sharepoint site and this list will have FirstName, LastName, Title, Email, DirectPhoneno, Region, Department, photo and Bio field. so once user will do people search it should display all above fields Values with picture. Normally when we do people search it display user profile and those profile information  comes from AD or MY Site and if we update any information that update happen to DB too. But in my requirement is it possible get values from custom list filed during people search and once update user profile it will reflected to Custom list. if yes please let me know what's the possibility? if it's not possible which way i should go ahead?

I have successfully completed the deployment of three layers of topological structure

Database management center front-end web server and domain firewall all open

I want to achieve in the home can access sharepoint

My front end server has been added to the field and join to the server fields two pieces of card

IP: 192.168.1.100 IP 172.16.1.100

Management center mapping port ready to mapping to 172.16.1.100

Through the TMG release its peripheral IP 172.16.1.100 public network analytic the domain name to the peripheral IP

The deployment method is feasible? Safe?

I have two questions

If the front-end web server back domain is more safe? Front-end web server back domain words will be able to realize the connection to the server field?

claims enabled webapp - No windows identity for domain\username

I have a small SharePoint 2010 farm (2FE, 2 APP) and enabled claims authentication on the webapp. User logon with windows username and password. Currently there is no use of claims besides enabling it on webapp-level, but will soon in the future. Everything looks fine, but on developer dashboard and ULS logs I see from time to time following error: Claims Authentication Unexpected g220 No windows identity for domain\username Where domain\username is the currently logged on user. Pages access etc work just fine, so users don't see this error. Anybody know why this error occurs? Anybody have a fix for this?

Moving curent sharepoint 2010 databases to sql 2012

Hello,

Currently, I am running sharepoint 2010 on Sql Server 2005. We are upgrading to sql 2012. Is there any steps or best practice I can follow.

Steps taken today:

First, I made a full farm backup and a snap shot of the server. Next, I install Sharepoint service pack 1 according to this reference (http://wellytonian.com/2011/07/sharepoint-2010-service-pack-1-installation-steps/ ). After install, I was able to run the sharepoint configuration wizard to confirm the update of service pack 1. One issue, I was having was viewing the web page after installing this service pack 1. I think the config file must of been updated that why I was getting this error.  Is there step I am missing after the update? Or am I suppose to move database to sql 2012 and then install service pack one?

Central Admin page Internet explorer cannot display the web page

All of a sudden I can not access my central admin from remote machine. It works perectly fine when accessed from the server but will give Internet explorer cannot display the web page? I am using VPN to access the network and it was working fine may be 3 hr earlier.

Sporadic Secure Store Servie Errors 7493,7535

I keep seeing these to errors and the "Unable to Get Master Key" in CA

To correct all I need to do is Refresh Key enter passphrase and

everything goes back to normal

Any ideas on why the key would need to be refreshed, I dont see other event Log erros before or after this

Retention Policy on Custom List

I have created retention policy on created date of a custom list item content type, run jobs(Information Management Policy-->Expiration policy). But the defined policy is not firing.

Anything wrong in my steps? Kindly share the solution for same.
